Altura exists to change how dentistry feels, so that looking after your health becomes something calm and considered rather than something to be endured. Everything else we do follows from that.
Why We Exist
For a great many people, dentistry is something they put off. Not because they do not care about their health, but because of how a dental visit has felt to them in the past, or how they imagine it will feel.
We think that is worth taking seriously rather than accepting. When the experience of care keeps people away from care, the experience itself becomes a clinical matter. Small concerns become larger ones. Treatment that could have been gentle becomes something more involved.
So our purpose is simply put: to change the patient experience, so that people may achieve better health without fear. Everything in this practice, from how the rooms feel to how long we take to explain something, is arranged around that one idea.
From “I hate coming to the dentist” to “I am looking forward to it.”
What We Believe
These are the statements every member of our team is introduced to, and the ones we return to whenever there is a choice between what is convenient and what is right for a patient.
OUR PURPOSE. TO CHANGE THE PATIENT EXPERIENCE, SO PEOPLE MAY ACHIEVE BETTER HEALTH WITHOUT FEAR.
Better health is the outcome. Removing fear is how we get there, and it is the part most of dentistry has overlooked.
OUR MISSION. TO REDEFINE THE DENTAL EXPERIENCE.
We are not trying to be a gentler version of what already exists. We would like people to leave with their expectations genuinely changed, and to be a little surprised by how straightforward it felt.
OUR VISION. A VISIT WORTH LOOKING FORWARD TO.
Calm, unhurried and clearly explained, in a space designed to feel welcoming rather than clinical, with a team who know you. The appointment itself should be what changes your mind.
OUR APPROACH. THOUGHTFUL CARE, METICULOUS ATTENTION, GENUINE CONNECTION.
The same approach whether you are here for a routine check-up or a transformative treatment. Nothing about it is accidental.
Any practice can describe itself warmly. These are the specific commitments we have made, including the ones that are genuinely inconvenient for us, which is why they are worth stating plainly.
We will not ask you to decide on the day. You leave with a written plan, and the space to think it over and talk it through with whoever matters to you. No deposit is taken at a consultation, and no offer expires to hurry you. We would rather you felt certain than quick.
Your costs are set out in writing before treatment begins, with inclusions stated clearly. If anything changes along the way, you will hear it from us beforehand rather than discover it afterwards. Cost is one of the most common reasons people delay care, and treating the conversation as awkward only leaves the patient carrying it.
If it has been many years, we are not interested in why. You will not be lectured or made to feel uncomfortable about what has happened in your mouth. People are rarely helped by being made to feel worse, and a great many of our long-standing patients arrived exactly this way.
Your scans, images and photographs are shown to you and explained in plain language. Informed decisions are better decisions, and understanding the reasoning tends to be far more reassuring than simply being told not to worry.
Where watching carefully is the better clinical decision, that is what we will advise, even when a larger plan was possible. We would rather care for you for twenty years than treat you thoroughly once.
Longer appointments where they are needed, gentle alternatives to what people find difficult, a screen above the chair, and a team who know before you arrive if you are feeling nervous. Tell us when you book and your appointment is shaped around it from the start.
Our Culture Of Care
An experience built on how people feel is delivered entirely by people, which makes the culture behind the door inseparable from the care in front of it.
Behind every patient experience is a culture defined by empowerment, learning and teamwork. We share knowledge, invest in our team’s development, and pay attention to detail in every part of the practice. It is that spirit of collaboration that allows us to deliver dentistry which feels not just professional, but personal.
It is also why we choose our team for temperament first. Technical skill can be taught, and warmth is far harder to teach.
Including the ones that are difficult to raise. If one of these is what has been holding you back, that is precisely why it is here.
No, and this is the single most common worry we hear. Long gaps are entirely normal and there is almost always a reason behind them, whether that is a difficult experience, cost, or simply life getting in the way. Our role is to tell you where things stand today and what your options are from here, not to comment on how you arrived. You will be met with warmth, and nothing else.
You will not be asked to decide on the day. We give you a written plan to take home, take no deposit at a consultation, and never use offers that expire to hurry a decision. If we follow up, it is to answer your questions. You are also very welcome to seek a second opinion, and if that helps you feel confident, we would encourage it.
Please tell us early. It genuinely improves the conversation rather than complicating it. Most treatment can be staged over time so that what matters clinically happens first, payment plan options are available, and in some circumstances early release of superannuation is a pathway we can explain. What we will not do is present one expensive option as though it were the only one.
It is close to the reason this practice exists, so no. Mention it when you book and your appointment changes shape: more time, a gentle first visit that may involve no treatment at all, everything explained before it happens, an agreed signal to pause at any moment, and distraction if that helps you. Many of the patients we now see regularly first came to us feeling exactly this way.
A fair question, since warmth is easy to claim. Look instead at the commitments that cost us something: no decision on the day, no deposit at a consultation, costs in writing before treatment, and a genuine willingness to recommend less. Those are the ones that are inconvenient to keep, which is what makes them meaningful.
Almost never. Most plans can be sequenced by clinical priority, so anything urgent is cared for first and elective treatment follows when it suits you. We will always tell you which is which, and specifically what can safely wait. That distinction is often the difference between a plan someone begins and a plan someone quietly avoids.
Yes, and we would encourage it for any significant decision. Bring your partner, a family member or a friend. People retain surprisingly little of a consultation, particularly an anxious one, so a second set of ears is genuinely valuable, and the person you would have discussed it with afterwards has already heard everything first-hand.
Not at all. Altura is a general dental practice that also offers advanced cosmetic and implant care. Check-ups, cleans, fillings, children and emergencies are central to what we do, and most of our patients are here for exactly that. The advanced capability simply means that if something more complex ever arises, you are already among people who know you.
