For people facing significant tooth loss, All-on-4 dental implants can be the solution. A fixed, full arch of teeth anchored to four implants, with no removal, no adhesive, and no compromise on what you can eat.
This is a substantial treatment, and the cost reflects that. Prices can have a broad range, and understanding what sits behind that range can help you make an informed decision.
All-on-4 replaces an entire arch of teeth using four titanium implants placed in the jawbone. Two sit vertically at the front; two are angled toward the back. The angled placement reaches denser bone further forward in the jaw, which in most cases removes the need for bone grafting and allows a fixed provisional bridge to be attached on the day of surgery.
The end result is a non-removable set of teeth anchored directly to your jaw. Not dentures. Not something you take out at night.
Most people assume the price difference between clinics comes down to the implants themselves. In practice, it usually comes down to what sits on top of them.
All-on-4 bridges are made from two main materials: acrylic and zirconia. Acrylic ranges from $19,000 to $25,000. Zirconia starts higher, typically from $25,000 to $35,000 per jaw.
Acrylic is functional and can look good initially, but it’s a porous material. It stains, it wears, and depending on your bite it typically needs replacing every three to five years. At many clinics, the acrylic bridge is an intended first stage before a final zirconia restoration, which means the cheaper entry point is not the complete picture.
Zirconia is denser, more resistant to staining, easier to keep clean, and far more durable. A well-made zirconia bridge commonly lasts ten to fifteen years. It also behaves more like natural enamel under bite pressure, which matters for comfort and longevity of the implants themselves.
If you’re comparing quotes, the most important question to ask is: what material is the bridge, and is it the final restoration or a provisional?
Beyond the bridge material, a few other variables can add to the total:
Extractions. Any remaining teeth that need removing before surgery are usually charged separately. This can add several hundred to a few thousand dollars depending on how many teeth are involved and their condition.
Imaging. A 3D cone beam CT scan is essential for planning All-on-4 accurately. Some clinics include it in their quoted fee; others bill it separately. Worth clarifying before you book.
Bone grafting. All-on-4 is designed to minimise grafting, but it doesn’t always avoid it entirely. If bone volume is insufficient in certain areas, additional procedures may be needed.
Six implants instead of four. Some cases benefit from All-on-6 for extra stability. Pricing varies between clinics for this variation.
Many private health insurance policies with major dental cover may provide some contribution toward implant treatment, subject to policy limits and exclusions.
Annual limits, waiting periods of up to twelve months, and lifetime caps can all apply, so it’s worth checking your specific entitlements before you proceed.
Some patients may qualify for the ATO’s Compassionate Release of Superannuation program for necessary dental treatment, subject to eligibility requirements.
All-on-4 suits patients who have lost most or all of their teeth on one or both arches, or who are facing extensive tooth loss and want a fixed, permanent alternative to dentures. It works well even where bone volume is reduced, because the angled implant placement is specifically designed to maximise what’s available.
It isn’t the right solution for everyone, and the only way to know whether it’s right for you is a proper clinical assessment, which includes imaging. Anyone quoting you a firm price without a scan hasn’t done enough of an assessment.
At Altura Dental, consultations for full-arch treatment begin with a thorough examination and appropriate imaging.
